Drink a glass of cold water and sip slowly
Chew sugar-free gum for 10–20 minutes
Take a short walk for 10–15 minutes
Eat a small, bland snack (toast, rice, banana)
Avoid lying down for at least 2–3 hours after eating
Try peppermint tea or peppermint lozenges
Use an antacid (calcium carbonate) as directed
Use bismuth subsalicylate as directed
If it’s frequent/related to reflux, use an H2 blocker (famotidine) as directed
If it’s frequent, use a proton pump inhibitor (omeprazole) as directed
Stay hydrated; avoid carbonated drinks and alcohol
Avoid trigger foods (eggs, garlic/onion, high-fat meals, spicy foods) for the rest of the day
If you suspect constipation, increase fiber and water or consider an OTC stool softener as directed
If symptoms persist more than 24–48 hours or are severe, seek medical care
Get urgent care for chest pain, trouble swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, or severe abdominal pain
