Gather the shower base, drain assembly, mortar or bedding material if required, level, tape measure, utility knife, drill, screws, and plumber’s putty or sealant
Turn off the water supply
Remove the old shower base if replacing one
Inspect the subfloor for damage and repair as needed
Clean the installation area thoroughly
Dry-fit the shower base to confirm size and drain alignment
Mark the drain location and outline the base position
Install the drain assembly according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Apply mortar, bedding compound, or the recommended support material to the subfloor if required
Set the shower base into place
Press the base evenly into the bedding material
Check that the base is level in all directions
Adjust as needed before the material sets
Secure the shower base to wall studs or framing if the model requires fastening
Seal the drain connection
Connect the plumbing and test for leaks
Apply waterproof sealant where the base meets the walls
Allow all sealants and bedding materials to cure fully
Test the base for stability and proper drainage
