How to Make Pickled Red Onion?

1 large red onion, thinly sliced

1 cup vinegar

1 cup water

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon salt

Place the sliced onion in a clean jar or bowl

Combine vinegar, water, sugar, and salt in a saucepan

Heat until the sugar and salt dissolve

Pour the hot liquid over the onion

Press the onion down so it is fully submerged

Let cool to room temperature

Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using

Store refrigerated for up to 2 weeks
