Measure the outside diameter of the pipe
Measure the inside diameter if needed
Measure the pipe length from end to end
Check the pipe wall thickness
Compare the outside diameter to standard PVC sizes
Identify the nominal pipe size from the measured diameter
Measure the pipe circumference if diameter is hard to access
Record all measurements in inches or millimeters
Verify the pipe schedule or pressure rating if required
