Turn off power to the kitchen circuit at the breaker
Remove the old microwave, if installed
Measure the space above the stove
Confirm the microwave is designed for over-the-range installation
Locate wall studs and mark them
Find and mark the mounting bracket height
Check the template against the wall and cabinet
Drill pilot holes where needed
Secure the mounting bracket to the wall
Prepare the venting setup for recirculating or external venting
Lift the microwave into position with assistance
Hook the back of the microwave onto the wall bracket
Align the top of the microwave with the cabinet mounting holes
Secure the microwave to the upper cabinet with screws
Connect the power cord to the outlet
Install the grease filter and charcoal filter, if required
Tighten all fasteners
Test the microwave controls and light
Test the vent fan
Restore power at the breaker
Verify the microwave is level and stable
