Park the vehicle on level ground
Turn off the engine and let it cool for a few minutes
Open the hood and locate the oil dipstick
Pull the dipstick out completely
Wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth or paper towel
Reinsert the dipstick fully into its tube
Pull it out again to check the oil level
Look for the oil film between the minimum and maximum marks
Confirm the oil level is within the safe range
Add oil if the level is below the minimum mark
Check the oil color and consistency for signs of contamination
Reinsert the dipstick securely after checking
