How to Remove Baseboard Molding?

Gather a utility knife, putty knife, pry bar, hammer, and safety glasses

Score the caulk line along the top edge of the baseboard with a utility knife

Remove any paint seal between the baseboard and wall with the utility knife

Locate and remove any nails or screws if visible

Insert a putty knife behind the baseboard to create a small gap

Slide a pry bar into the gap behind the putty knife

Pry gently at one stud location

Move along the board and pry at each stud location

Pull the baseboard away from the wall slowly

Remove any remaining nails from the wall or molding

Fill nail holes and repair wall damage as needed

Label and store the baseboard if you plan to reuse it
