Wash and dry your hands thoroughly
Use a clean mirror and good lighting
Look up and pull down your lower eyelid with one finger
Use the pad of your fingertip, not the nail, to slide the lens down onto the white of your eye
Pinch the lens gently between the pads of your thumb and index finger
If needed, use the side of your finger instead of the tip to avoid scratching your eye
Keep your nails angled away from the eye
Use a contact lens removal tool if you have trouble gripping the lens safely
Apply rewetting drops if the lens feels stuck
Blink several times to loosen the lens before trying again
Do not use your nails to grab the lens
Do not force the lens if it does not move easily
If the lens remains stuck, stop and contact an eye care professional
