Shut off the water supply
Open a faucet to relieve pressure
Confirm the pipe is fully depressurized
Remove any clip or collar if present
Use a SharkBite disconnect clip or disconnect tongs
Place the tool around the pipe and fitting collar
Push the collar evenly toward the fitting
Hold the collar in place while pulling the pipe straight out
Twist gently if needed while pulling
Inspect the pipe end for damage
Cut back the pipe if the end is scratched or deformed
Replace the fitting if it will be reused incorrectly or is damaged
