How to Replace a Garburator?

Turn off power to the garbage disposal at the breaker

Unplug the unit from the outlet under the sink, if applicable

Shut off the water supply if needed

Place a bucket under the sink to catch water

Disconnect the drain trap and discharge pipe

Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose, if attached

Support the disposal and twist it off the mounting ring

Remove the old mounting assembly from the sink flange

Clean the sink opening and remove old plumber’s putty or sealant

Install the new sink flange and mounting assembly

Apply plumber’s putty or sealant as required

Mount the new garburator onto the mounting ring

Connect the drain pipe and tighten all slip nuts

Reconnect the dishwasher hose, if applicable

Plug in the unit or hardwire it according to instructions

Restore power at the breaker

Run water and test for leaks

Turn on the garburator and confirm proper operation
