Turn off the water supply to the faucet
Close the drain stopper or cover the drain
Open the faucet to release any remaining water
Remove the faucet handle
Take out the decorative cap if present
Unscrew and remove the retaining screw
Pull off the handle
Remove the packing nut or retaining clip
Take out the cartridge, stem, or valve assembly
Inspect washers, O-rings, seals, and cartridges for wear or damage
Replace any worn or damaged parts
Clean mineral buildup from the faucet components
Apply plumber’s grease to moving parts and O-rings if needed
Reassemble the faucet in the reverse order
Tighten all parts securely
Turn the water supply back on
Test the faucet for leaks
Tighten or adjust parts if leaking continues
Replace the faucet cartridge or call a plumber if the leak persists
