How to Replace Caliper?

Park on a level surface and engage the parking brake

Loosen the wheel lug nuts

Raise the vehicle with a jack

Support the vehicle with jack stands

Remove the wheel

Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap

Place a drain pan under the caliper

Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper

Cap or plug the brake line to prevent fluid loss

Remove the caliper mounting bolts

Remove the old caliper from the bracket or rotor area

Compare the new caliper to the old caliper

Install the new caliper in position

Install and tighten the caliper mounting bolts

Reconnect the brake hose with new sealing washers if required

Tighten the brake hose fitting to specification

Refill the brake fluid reservoir as needed

Bleed the brake system

Check for leaks at the hose and fittings

Reinstall the wheel

Lower the vehicle

Tighten the lug nuts to specification

Pump the brake pedal until firm

Test the brakes at low speed
