How to Replace Lug Studs?

Park on a level surface and engage the parking brake

Loosen the lug nuts before lifting the vehicle

Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands

Remove the wheel

Remove the brake caliper and support it without stressing the brake hose

Remove the brake rotor if needed for access

Rotate the hub to align the damaged stud with an opening

Remove the damaged stud by hammering it out or pressing it out

Insert the new lug stud into the hub from the back side

Pull the stud fully into place using a lug nut and washers or a press

Reinstall the rotor if removed

Reinstall the brake caliper

Reinstall the wheel

Hand-tighten the lug nuts

Lower the vehicle

Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specification in a star pattern

Recheck lug nut torque after driving a short distance
