Open the lock using the current combination
Locate the reset mechanism, such as a reset lever, button, or pin
Keep the shackle open or the lock in the unlocked position
Move or press the reset mechanism as required by the lock model
Set the new combination by turning the dials to the desired code
Return the reset mechanism to its original position
Close the lock and scramble the dials
Test the new combination before using the lock normally
