Remove any damaged or wilted outer leaves
Do not wash until ready to use, unless the lettuce is already very dirty
Dry the lettuce completely if washed
Wrap the lettuce loosely in paper towels
Place it in a perforated or loosely closed plastic bag
Store it in the crisper drawer of the fridge
Keep it away from fruits that release ethylene, like apples and bananas
Check and replace damp paper towels if needed
Use within a few days for best freshness
