Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
Line a baking sheet or roasting pan with foil
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels
Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika
Place the chicken pieces skin-side up on the pan
Brush the chicken lightly with oil
Bake for 20 minutes
Remove the chicken from the oven and brush generously with barbecue sauce
Return the chicken to the oven
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes more, brushing with more sauce once or twice
Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for breasts and 175°F (80°C) for thighs and drumsticks
Broil for 2 to 3 minutes if you want a caramelized finish
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving
