How to Properly Jack Up a Car?

Park on a flat, solid surface

Put the car in Park or in gear

Set the parking brake

Chock the wheels that will stay on the ground

Check the owner’s manual for approved jack points

Loosen lug nuts slightly before lifting if removing a wheel

Position the jack under the correct jack point

Raise the car slowly and steadily

Lift only high enough for the work needed

Place jack stands under approved support points

Lower the car onto the jack stands

Gently shake the car to confirm stability

Never work under a car supported only by a jack

Keep hands and feet clear while lifting and lowering

Use a jack and jack stands with sufficient weight capacity

Lower the car slowly when finished

Tighten lug nuts after the car is back on the ground
