How to Remove a Bathtub Spout?

Turn off the water supply if possible

Place a towel or rag in the tub to protect the surface

Check the spout for a set screw underneath or on the side

Loosen the set screw with the correct Allen wrench or screwdriver

Pull the spout straight off the pipe

If there is no set screw, look for a threaded spout

Turn the spout counterclockwise to unscrew it

Use a strap wrench if the spout is stuck

Remove any old plumber’s tape or debris from the pipe

Inspect the pipe and threads before installing a new spout
