Wash your hands
Gently peel one end of the Steri-Strip
Pull it back slowly, parallel to the skin
Support the skin with your other hand
Stop if the strip is stuck
Soak the area with warm water if needed
Use a little petroleum jelly or adhesive remover if approved by your doctor
Remove the strips one at a time
Do not pull upward
Do not remove them if your doctor told you to keep them on
Contact your doctor if the wound opens, bleeds, or looks infected
