How To Remove Bathtub Drain Stopper?

Lift the stopper to the open position

Look for a visible set screw, knob, or linkage on the stopper

Loosen the set screw with the correct screwdriver or Allen wrench

Unscrew the stopper counterclockwise if it is threaded

Pull the stopper straight up and out

If it is a lift-and-turn stopper, remove the knob first if needed

If it is a toe-touch stopper, unscrew the cap and lift it out

If it is a push-pull stopper, twist and lift it out

If it is a trip-lever stopper, remove the overflow plate and pull out the linkage

If it is stuck, use pliers with a cloth to protect the finish

Clean any debris from the drain opening after removal
