How to Check MAF Sensor?

Locate the MAF sensor in the intake tube between the air filter and throttle body

Turn off the engine and disconnect the MAF sensor connector

Inspect the sensor and connector for dirt, damage, corrosion, or loose pins

Check the air filter and intake duct for leaks, cracks, or contamination

Reconnect the sensor and start the engine

Use a scan tool to read live MAF data at idle and under light throttle

Compare the readings to the vehicle’s specifications

Tap the sensor lightly and watch for unstable readings or engine behavior changes

Unplug the MAF sensor with the engine running and observe whether idle changes

Test the sensor power, ground, and signal wires with a multimeter

Check for proper voltage supply and ground continuity

Measure the MAF signal output and compare it to expected values

Clean the sensor only with MAF sensor cleaner if contamination is present

Reinstall the sensor and clear any diagnostic trouble codes

Road test the vehicle and recheck for codes or abnormal readings
