Rinse the rice until the water runs clear
Add rice and water to a pan
Use a ratio of 1 cup rice to 2 cups water
Add a pinch of salt if desired
Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan
Simmer until the water is absorbed, about 15 to 20 minutes
Turn off the heat and let it sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
