Rinse the brown rice until the water runs mostly clear
Measure the rice and water according to your rice cooker’s brown rice setting or the package instructions
Add the rinsed rice and water to the rice cooker
Add salt or oil if desired
Close the lid securely
Select the brown rice setting if your cooker has one
Start the cooker
Let the rice cook until the cycle finishes
Keep the lid closed during cooking
Let the rice rest for 10 to 15 minutes after cooking
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
