Make sure the lighter is empty and completely cool
Use butane fuel made for lighters
Work in a well-ventilated area away from flames, sparks, and heat
Turn the lighter upside down
Shake the butane canister if the label recommends it
Insert the canister nozzle firmly into the refill valve
Press down for a few seconds
Repeat in short bursts until the lighter is full
Wait a few minutes for the fuel to settle
Wipe off any excess fuel
Adjust the flame setting if needed
Test the lighter away from your face and body
