Check local building codes and permits
Inspect for moisture, leaks, and mold
Seal cracks and waterproof as needed
Install a vapor barrier if required
Mark wall layout on floor and ceiling
Find and mark joists and obstructions
Cut pressure-treated bottom plates
Cut top plates to match wall length
Lay out stud spacing on plates
Attach bottom plate to concrete with concrete fasteners
Attach top plate to joists or blocking
Cut studs to height
Frame around windows, doors, and utilities
Assemble wall sections on the floor if possible
Raise and secure wall sections
Plumb walls and brace as needed
Fasten studs, plates, and corners securely
Add fire blocking where required
Install insulation after framing
Leave space for electrical and plumbing runs
Inspect framing before covering with drywall
