Open Microsoft Word
Go to File
Click Info
Select Manage Document or Manage Versions
Click Recover Unsaved Documents
Choose the unsaved file
Click Open
Save the document immediately
Check the AutoRecover folder if needed
Open File Explorer
Paste this path: %AppData%MicrosoftWord
Look for files with .asd extension
Open the file in Word
Save it with a new name
Check the Temporary Files folder if needed
Open File Explorer
Search for .tmp files
Sort by date modified
Open the most recent file in Word
Save the recovered document
Check the Document Recovery pane when Word restarts after a crash
Select the latest recovered version
Save it immediately
Check OneDrive or SharePoint version history if the document was stored there
Restore the previous version if available
