Unplug the kettle and let it cool completely
Empty any water from the kettle
Fill the kettle halfway with equal parts white vinegar and water, or use a descaling solution as directed
Bring the solution to a boil
Turn off the kettle and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Pour out the solution
Scrub any remaining limescale gently with a non-abrasive sponge or brush
Rinse the kettle thoroughly with clean water
Boil fresh water once or twice and discard it to remove any residue
Wipe the outside and dry the kettle before use
