Put on gloves and clear the area around the drain
Remove the drain cover or stopper
Feed the snake cable into the drain slowly
Turn the handle clockwise as you push the cable forward
Stop when you feel resistance
Rotate and gently work the cable to break up or hook the clog
Push and pull the cable a little to help clear the blockage
Withdraw the snake slowly while continuing to turn the handle
Clean the cable after removal
Run hot water to check that the drain is clear
Repeat if needed
Avoid forcing the snake if it gets stuck
