How to Become a Notary in GA?

Meet Georgia’s eligibility requirements

Be at least 18 years old

Be a legal resident of the county where you apply or be a resident of a bordering state and work in that county

Be able to read and write English

Have no felony conviction involving moral turpitude unless civil rights have been restored

Obtain a notary application from your county probate court

Complete the application accurately

Get the required signatures or endorsements, if required by your county

Pay the application fee

Take the oath of office, if required

Purchase a notary seal/stamp

Obtain a notary journal if you choose to keep one

Follow Georgia notary laws and procedures

Renew your commission before it expires
