Meet the eligibility requirements
Be at least 18 years old
Be a legal resident of Texas
Not have a felony conviction or have had civil rights restored if applicable
Obtain a Texas notary public bond
Complete the Texas notary public application
Submit the application to the Texas Secretary of State
Pay the required filing fee
Receive your commission certificate
Purchase your notary seal and record book
Take the oath of office if required
Begin performing notarial acts within the scope of Texas law
Renew your commission before it expires
