Meet the eligibility requirements
Be at least 18 years old
Be a legal resident of Massachusetts or have a place of business in Massachusetts
Be able to read and write English
Complete the Massachusetts notary application
Obtain the required endorsements or references if requested
Submit the application to the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth
Pay the required application fee
Pass any required review or background check
Receive your commission certificate
Take the oath of office
File the oath and bond if required
Purchase a notary seal and journal
Follow Massachusetts notary laws and procedures
Renew your commission before it expires
