How To Cook White Rice On Stove?

Rinse 1 cup white rice in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs mostly clear

Add rice and 2 cups water to a saucepan

Add 1/2 tsp salt (optional)

Bring to a boil over high heat

Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid

Simmer 15–20 minutes without lifting the lid

Turn off heat and let stand, covered, 5–10 minutes

Fluff with a fork and serve
