Increasing redness around the wound
Swelling that gets worse
Warmth around the wound
Pain that is worsening instead of improving
Pus or cloudy drainage
Bad smell from the wound
Skin around the wound becoming hard or tender
Red streaks spreading away from the wound
Fever or chills
The wound not healing or getting larger
Bleeding or drainage that increases after the first day or two
Swollen lymph nodes near the wound
Feeling generally unwell
Seek medical care if the wound is deep, from a bite, has dirt or debris in it, or if symptoms are getting worse
