How to Prepare Octopus for Cooking?

Rinse the octopus under cold running water

Remove the beak if it has not already been removed

Remove the eyes if desired

Turn the head inside out and clean out the interior

Remove any remaining innards or debris

Trim off the ink sac if present

Cut away the mouth area and any tough connective tissue

Check the tentacles for sand, grit, or suction cup debris

Pat the octopus dry with paper towels

Cut into pieces if needed for your recipe

Chill until ready to cook
