Do not twist, crush, or jerk the tick
Clean the bite area with soap and water
Disinfect the area with rubbing alcohol or antiseptic
Dispose of the tick by sealing it in a bag, wrapping it in tape, or flushing it
Wash your hands thoroughly
Monitor the bite site for rash, fever, or other symptoms
Seek medical care if the tick was attached for a long time or if symptoms develop
