Move away from the area to avoid more stings
Check for signs of severe allergic reaction
Call emergency services immediately if there is trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, dizziness, fainting, or widespread hives
Remove any visible stinger if present
Wash the sting site with soap and water
Apply a cold pack or ice wrapped in cloth for 10 to 15 minutes at a time
Elevate the affected area if possible
Take an oral antihistamine for itching or swelling if appropriate
Apply hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion to the area
Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain if needed and safe for you
Avoid scratching the sting site
Monitor for worsening swelling, redness, warmth, or pus
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, spreading, or not improving
Use an epinephrine auto-injector if prescribed and needed for an allergic reaction
