Start with a square sheet of paper
Fold it diagonally in half to form a triangle
Unfold it
Fold it diagonally the other way
Unfold it again
Fold the paper in half horizontally
Unfold it
Fold the paper in half vertically
Unfold it
Collapse the paper into a square base using the existing creases
Place the open corner at the top
Fold the top left and top right edges toward the center line
Fold the top flap down
Unfold the last three folds
Lift the bottom corner upward while folding the sides inward to form a bird base
Repeat on the other side
Fold the top two outer edges inward to the center line
Fold the top point down over the flaps
Unfold the last three folds
Open the top layer and bring the bottom point up to flatten into a kite shape
Repeat on the other side
Fold the narrow top points upward on both sides to make the wings
Fold one of the lower narrow points upward to make the head
Fold the other lower narrow point downward to make the tail
Pull the wings outward gently
Shape the head and tail as needed
