Remove the avocado seed from the fruit and rinse off all flesh
Identify the top and bottom of the seed
Fill a small pot with well-draining potting soil
Make a hole in the soil deep enough to hold the lower half of the seed
Place the seed in the soil with the pointed end up and the flatter end down
Leave the top half of the seed exposed above the soil
Gently firm the soil around the seed
Water the soil lightly until it is evenly moist
Place the pot in a warm spot with bright indirect light
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Wait for the seed to sprout and develop roots and a stem
Transplant the seedling into a larger pot when it outgrows the container
