Choose a location with partial to full shade
Prepare well-draining, rich soil
Plant after all danger of frost has passed
Soak bulbs in water for a few hours before planting if desired
Plant bulbs 1.5 to 2 inches deep
Place bulbs with the knobby side up
Space bulbs 8 to 12 inches apart
Cover with soil and gently firm it
Water thoroughly after planting
Keep soil consistently moist, not soggy
Apply a light layer of mulch if needed
Fertilize lightly after growth begins
Protect from cold temperatures and frost
