Choose a healthy, disease-free rose stem
Cut a 6 to 8 inch stem with at least 3 to 4 nodes
Remove flowers, buds, and most leaves
Make a clean cut just below a node
Dip the cut end in rooting hormone
Fill a pot with well-draining potting mix
Moisten the soil lightly
Insert the cutting into the soil about halfway
Firm the soil around the cutting
Water gently
Cover the cutting with a clear plastic bag or dome
Place it in bright, indirect light
Keep the soil slightly moist
Remove the cover occasionally for airflow
Wait for roots to develop
Transplant the cutting once new growth appears
Move it to a larger pot or garden bed
Harden it off before planting outdoors
