Choose a planting site with full sun to partial shade

Check that the soil drains well

Measure the mature width of the arborvitae

Space plants according to their mature size

Loosen circling roots gently

Place the plant in the hole with the top of the root ball level with the ground

Backfill the hole with the removed soil

Firm the soil lightly around the roots

Water thoroughly after planting

Add mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk

Water regularly during the first growing season

Avoid overwatering

Protect young plants from strong wind and heavy snow if needed
