Separate the garlic bulb into individual cloves
Keep the papery skin on each clove
Choose the largest, healthiest sprouted cloves
Plant the cloves with the pointed end up and the root end down
Bury each clove about 2 inches deep
Space cloves 4 to 6 inches apart
Space rows 8 to 12 inches apart
Plant in well-draining soil
Place in full sun
Water lightly after planting
Keep soil evenly moist, not soggy
Mulch lightly to protect the cloves
Remove weeds as they appear
Harvest when the tops begin to yellow and dry
Lift bulbs carefully from the soil
Cure harvested garlic in a dry, airy place
