Let the engine cool completely
Park on a level surface and set the parking brake
Open the hood
Locate the coolant reservoir and radiator cap
Check the coolant level against the markings on the reservoir
If needed, slowly remove the reservoir cap or radiator cap when the engine is cool
Use the correct coolant type specified in the owner’s manual
Mix coolant with distilled water if required by the coolant label
Pour coolant into the reservoir up to the full mark
If filling the radiator directly, pour slowly until full
Reinstall the cap securely
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes
Check for leaks
Recheck the coolant level after the engine cools again
Top off if necessary
