Turn off the ignition and remove the key
Close all doors, trunk, and hood latches as needed
Turn off all lights, accessories, and aftermarket devices
Wait for vehicle modules to enter sleep mode
Disconnect the negative battery cable
Connect a multimeter in series between the negative battery post and cable
Set the multimeter to measure amperage
Read the current draw after the vehicle has fully gone to sleep
Compare the reading to the manufacturer’s specified parasitic draw limit
If the draw is excessive, pull fuses one at a time
Watch for the current drop when the faulty circuit fuse is removed
Identify the circuit associated with the fuse that causes the drop
Inspect components on that circuit for faults or stuck-on loads
Recheck the draw after repairs
Reconnect the battery cable and verify normal current draw
