Wash your hands and the area around the splinter with soap and water
Sterilize a pair of tweezers and a needle with rubbing alcohol
If the splinter tip is visible, grip it with the tweezers and pull it out in the same direction it entered
If the splinter is under the skin, use the needle to gently lift the tip out
Once the tip is exposed, remove it with the tweezers
Wash the area again with soap and water
Apply antiseptic or antibiotic ointment
Cover with a clean bandage if needed
Seek medical help if the splinter is deep, large, in the eye, or shows signs of infection
