Water orchids when the potting mix is almost dry
Check moisture by feeling the mix or lifting the pot
Water early in the day
Use room-temperature water
Water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom
Let excess water drain completely
Do not let orchids sit in standing water
Avoid getting water trapped in the crown or leaf joints
If water collects in the crown, blot it dry
Reduce watering in cooler or darker months
Increase watering in warmer or brighter conditions
Water less often for orchids in bark mix
Water more often for orchids in moss if it dries out quickly
Use clean pots with drainage holes
