Choose a ripe, healthy pineapple with fresh green leaves
Twist or cut off the leafy crown
Remove any fruit flesh from the base of the crown
Peel off a few lower leaves to expose the stem
Let the crown dry for 1 to 3 days
Place the crown in water or directly in soil
If using water, keep only the stem base submerged
If using soil, plant the crown in well-draining potting mix
Keep the plant in a warm, bright location
Water lightly and avoid overwatering
Wait for roots to develop
Transplant to a larger pot or garden once established
Maintain warm temperatures and plenty of sunlight
Fertilize lightly during the growing season
Be patient, as fruiting can take a long time
