Drink small sips of water, oral rehydration solution, or clear fluids often
Rest as much as possible
Eat bland foods only if you can tolerate them, such as toast, rice, bananas, applesauce, or crackers
Avoid greasy, spicy, dairy, alcohol, and caffeine
Wash hands frequently to prevent spreading the illness
Stay home and avoid close contact with others
Use over-the-counter fever or pain medicine only as directed and if safe for you
Seek medical care if you cannot keep fluids down, have signs of dehydration, severe pain, blood in vomit or stool, high fever, or symptoms that worsen or last more than a few days
