How to Plant Lavender in a Container?

Choose a container with drainage holes

Use a pot that is at least 12 to 16 inches wide

Fill the container with a well-draining potting mix

Mix in sand, perlite, or gravel for extra drainage

Place the container in full sun

Remove the lavender from its nursery pot

Loosen the roots gently before planting

Set the plant at the same depth it was growing before

Backfill with soil and press lightly around the base

Water thoroughly after planting

Let the soil dry slightly between waterings

Avoid overwatering

Place the container in a warm, airy location

Trim lightly after planting if needed

Fertilize sparingly, if at all

Repot when the plant outgrows the container
