Prune lavender in early spring after new growth appears, or right after flowering
Remove spent flower stems
Cut back about one-third of the plant
Trim soft green growth, not into old woody stems
Shape the plant into a rounded mound
Remove dead, damaged, or weak stems
Use clean, sharp pruning shears
Avoid cutting below the leafy growth
Prune annually to keep the plant compact
Do not prune heavily in late fall or winter
